An excellent way to supplement income is with an online business system. Whether or not you currently have a job, the beauty of working through the Internet is that you are able to set up and run an online business in your spare time. An online business offers flexibility, without the fixed demands of a brick and mortar business. Once you reach your online financial goals you can then make the decision whether to quite your regular job and take you income producing efforts full time to the Internet.
What is typically the first, and most important, decision that an online business owner must make is deciding what product to sell. It helps to be an item that you have some familiarity with but that is not a requirement. What is necessary is thinking about your supply chain strategy and how you will get this product to your customers.
There are many aspects to a supply chain strategy, with two very important items being the ability to provide a quality product and the ability to get it to your customer in a timely fashion. This means thorough research of manufacturers of the product you will be selling. Ideally your supplier will have excellent inventory of the item you are selling and will be able to get it to your customer in such a manner that it appears to have come directly from you.
This last part of supply chain strategy is called drop shipping, where a wholesaler is able to ship directly to your customer using a packing slip and return address label that has your business’ name and address on it. To your customer, the package looks like it came directly from your small business warehouse rather than some huge wholesaler. For you it will take time and effort to find a wholesaler with the right product and ability to drop ship. This is very important as your wholesaler will become a representative of your business and will help determine the success of your online business system.
